ACCA Ireland Graduation Ceremony 2009

ACCA Ireland Graduation Ceremony 2009

ACCA Ireland President, Brian McEnery FCCA hosted the 2009 Graduation Ceremony at the National Concert Hall, Dublin on Tuesday 20 October. Over 750 guests attended the ceremony to congratulate our 347 affiliates on their success. Brendan Murtagh FCCA, ACCA Global President was the guest speaker.

Speaking at the event,  Brian McEnery, ACCA Ireland president spoke about the proposed green tax policies in the report from the Commission on Taxation and said that governments must use tax policy as an instrument of positive change by incentivising investment in new, cleaner technologies across a wide range of industries.  Mr McEnery said “Using environmental and green taxation to boost falling tax revenues needs careful planning by government and policymakers.  Shifting to environmental taxation cannot both solve the environmental crisis and raise significant income via taxation in the long-term. Environmental taxation is only successful if the government is fully committed to creating beneficial environmental results with at least a large proportion of the revenue gained from it.”

ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) is the largest and fastest-growing global professional accountancy body with 493,500 students and members in 170 countries worldwide. ACCA Ireland has 20,000 students and members.
